Vietnam is taking significant steps to modernize its healthcare sector through a comprehensive digital transformation initiative.
The Ministry of Health has unveiled an ambitious action plan aimed at driving scientific innovation, leveraging emerging technologies, and enhancing digital infrastructure. This initiative seeks to improve diagnostics, treatment, and disease prevention, ultimately elevating the nation’s healthcare services.
The plan outlines seven key objectives to boost the digital transformation of healthcare. A major focus is fostering innovative thinking, with an emphasis on creating new momentum across society. The government is also focused on integrating scientific research with medical applications, while enhancing workforce training to ensure that healthcare professionals are equipped with the necessary skills for the digital era.
One of the core aspects of this transformation is increasing investments in advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, blockchain, and automation. These technologies will play a critical role in improving healthcare services by supporting more accurate diagnostics, personalized treatment plans, and more efficient disease prevention methods.
Public-private partnerships are also central to the strategy, encouraging collaboration to develop digital health applications and services, such as widespread electronic health records.
To ensure the success of this transformation, the Ministry of Health plans to restructure public scientific organizations, establishing research institutes and medical universities that align with both scientific research and medical training. The aim is to foster a collaborative environment where research, application, and education are seamlessly integrated.
Training programs will be prioritized, focusing on equipping healthcare workers with digital healthcare and technology skills. Additionally, the ministry will work on creating regulatory frameworks that remove barriers to innovation, ensuring a supportive environment for digital health solutions.
With a strong focus on international cooperation, particularly in the fields of AI, biotechnology, and gene technology, Vietnam’s digital healthcare initiative promises to modernize its healthcare landscape and enhance the quality of care for its citizens.
