UAE, which is home to one of the three largest solar power plants in the world, is firmly committed to a sustainable energy future and to its leading role in developing renewable energy, says Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, on the sidelines of International Clean Energy Day on Sunday.
“International Day of Clean Energy provides a valuable opportunity to reflect on the role of clean energy in realizing our climate goals through a just and sustainable energy transition, ensuring both energy security and a cleaner future for all,” she stressed, noting that UAE “recently commissioned gigawatt-sized 24-hour solar and battery project.”
According to Al Dahak, UAE is working on achieving its aim to reduce carbon emissions to zero by 2050 with the help of these initiatives, including the project that covers nearly 25% of its electricity needs – the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant.
“We recognize that the transition to clean energy requires global collaboration. The UAE is actively engaged in international partnerships to share knowledge, promote innovation, and support developing nations in their pursuit of sustainable energy solutions,” she added.
