Brazil has been officially recognized as one of the world’s top ten tourism powerhouses for job creation, according to the latest Travel & Tourism Economic Impact 2025: Global Trends report by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC).

The study forecasts that Brazil’s tourism sector will generate over 8.2 million jobs by 2025, solidifying its position as a key global driver of employment and economic growth.

The WTTC report ranks Brazil 7th worldwide in tourism employment, ahead of major destinations such as Spain and France, and just behind China, India, the United States, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand. The findings also predict that Brazil will become the 9th-largest creator of new tourism jobs between 2025 and 2035, adding an additional 1.5 million positions over the decade.

Tourism Minister Celso Sabino emphasized that the ranking reflects renewed global confidence in Brazil’s economy and its diverse destinations.

“These figures confirm that tourism is at the center of Brazil’s economic agenda. We are working to generate jobs, income, and opportunities in all regions of the country,” Sabino said, highlighting the government’s efforts to strengthen competitiveness, attract investment, and promote sustainable development.

The report also projects that Brazil’s tourism industry will contribute approximately US$167.6 billion to GDP in 2025 and attract around US$20 billion in investment by 2026. Domestic tourism continues to play a major role, with Brazil ranking 11th globally for internal tourism spending, projected at US$113.2 billion this year.

With its rich cultural heritage, biodiversity, and sustainable tourism policies, Brazil is poised to remain one of the most dynamic and inclusive tourism markets in the world, driving both economic resilience and social development.
