According to the latest data released by the Brazil’s Ministry of Tourism, Embratur, and the Federal Police, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Paraná welcomed a record 6,657,377 foreign visitors in 2024, setting a new benchmark for international tourism with a 12.6% increase.
“Our efforts to structure Brazil’s global promotion have yielded significant results, making tourism a cornerstone of our economy and a model for sustainable development,” says Marcelo Freixo, president of Embratur, attributing the increased number of tourists to innovative strategies for international promotion.
These three cities served as key entry points for visitors in Brazil with the state of Pará (47.4%) – the host of COP 30 in 2025 – seeing significant increases in foreign arrivals.
“These numbers reflect our commitment to showcasing Brazil’s diverse experiences, from natural wonders to cultural heritage,” Tourism Minister Celso Sabino stated, stressing the the impact of strategic campaigns, partnerships, and destination development.
On top of the UN Climate Conference (COP 30) in Belém, Pará, Brazil expects to draw thousands of international attendees to the other major global events it will host in 2025, including the BRICS Summit in Brasília.
