Vietnam has reached a major milestone in its tourism recovery by welcoming its 20 millionth international visitor and launching the country’s first national digital platform dedicated exclusively to the tourism sector. The initiative highlights Vietnam’s rapid post-pandemic rebound and its commitment to digital transformation.

Recent assessments by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UN Tourism) and the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) place Vietnam among the world’s fastest-growing tourism markets, with growth exceeding 21 per cent. This performance is particularly notable as many destinations continue to adjust to shifting global travel patterns.

Developed with the support of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism and national data institutions, the new platform is designed as a unified digital ecosystem connecting government agencies, businesses, and travellers. It enables real-time monitoring of visitor flows, destination capacity, and market trends, allowing authorities to make data-driven decisions and manage tourism more sustainably.

The platform also serves as an AI-powered travel assistant. Visitors can plan personalised itineraries, book accommodation and transport, and manage entire trips within a single interface. Live updates on weather conditions, crowd density, and destination changes further enhance the travel experience.

Officials emphasise that “the platform provides reliable, official information and strengthens Vietnam’s global tourism image,” underscoring its role in building trust with international travellers.

For businesses, access to market analytics and visitor behaviour data offers new opportunities to identify high-value markets and tailor services to international demand. Vietnam’s move mirrors a broader global trend, as destinations like Dubai, China, and Egypt invest in digital platforms, biometrics, and AI to enhance competitiveness.

By combining strong visitor growth with advanced digital infrastructure, Vietnam is positioning itself as a smart, future-ready tourism destination in an increasingly data-driven global industry.
