Representing India at the BRICS Transport Ministers’ Meet in Brasilia, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari highlighted the Modi government’s transformative infrastructure initiatives and emphasized India’s commitment to building a sustainable and resilient transport ecosystem.

Speaking at the multilateral forum, Gadkari outlined flagship projects such as PM GatiShakti, the National Logistics Policy, Bharatmala, and Sagarmala, which aim to create an integrated, multimodal transport network.

“These flagship programmes reflect India’s commitment to building an integrated, future-ready transport ecosystem that drives inclusive growth and regional connectivity,” Gadkari shared in a post on X.

During the visit, Gadkari also held a bilateral meeting with senior Brazilian transport officials to strengthen cooperation in the ethanol economy. The talks focused on promoting flex-fuel vehicles and improving logistics infrastructure, particularly in port and industrial corridors.

“This collaboration marks a significant stride towards sustainable transport and green mobility, reinforcing India-Brazil ties through strategic technology exchange and policy synergy,” he stated.

Gadkari’s presence at the BRICS platform comes amid growing collaboration among member nations to address shared challenges in infrastructure, clean energy, and sustainable development. BRICS, which comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, represents over 40% of the global population and has become a key driver of global economic momentum.

The BRICS Transport Ministers’ Meet is part of ongoing efforts to deepen cooperation under the group’s economic and environmental pillars. India’s participation underscored its focus on green innovation and international collaboration in reshaping global transport systems for the future.

The visit also followed a similar engagement by Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, marking a broader Indian outreach to Brazil across multiple sectors including agriculture, biofuels, and logistics.
