An initiative aimed at transforming Addis Ababa’s into a more sustainable and accessible city has entered the second phase as Ethiopia launched corridor development project focused on public spaces’ improvement, infrastructure modernising and enhancing transportation networks.
Covering 2,879 hectares, the initiative includes equipping 58 locations across the city with EV charging stations aimed at promoting environmentally friendly transport, construction of 240 km of asphalt roads, 237 km of pedestrian walkways and more than 100 km of dedicated bike lanes as well as parking facilities to improve urban mobility, and improvement of the quality of life with over 200 public recreational areas.
Per the Office of the Ethiopian Prime Minister, “the project also incorporates the construction of 17 sports centres to encourage physical activity and community engagement.”
