The Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, and the president of the National Development and Reform Commission of China, Zheng Shanjie, signed today a new agreement to promote and expand the cooperation of the two countries in the strategic fields of finance and energy, as reported by Venezolana de Television (VTV).
During her first day of her official visit to Beijing, the capital of the People’s Republic of China, Rodríguez also met with her Chinese counterpart, Han Zheng, for s meeting during which they reviewed the progress of the cooperation programme developed during the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro’s visit in September 2023.
Rodríguez thanked China for its support against the illegitimate blockade set towards the Venezuelan nation and also ratified the support of the principle of One China.
“Since the visit of President Nicolás Maduro, the strategic relationship was continuously strengthened against all odds with President Xi Jinping,” she noted.
Rodríguez emphasized that both nations have the cooperation in energy and finance as their central axis, from which other strategic sectors are stemming.
“We are part of a solid united front of international cooperation in defense of the UN Charter and to strengthen the Global South. We repudiate hegemonism and neoliberalism that threaten the sovereignty of countries,” she concluded.
At the same time, Venezuelan VP confirmed that the Bolivarian Republic recognizes BRICS as a geopolitical bloc that seeks an inclusive economy and allows access to the Global South.
