A virtual meeting held last weekend by Brazil’s Chief of Staff, Rui Costa, and Chinese Minister of the National Development and Reform Commission, Zheng Shanjie, resulted in making another step forward towards consolidating the strategic cooperation between the two countries.
As Agência Gov reported, the initiative seeks to make viable a broad portfolio of bilateral projects stemming from the recent visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Brazil, and to attract investments, especially in infrastructure, production chains, clean energy, ecological transformation and strategic technologies.
To help make these projects financially viable, the president of the New Development Bank (NDB) – also known as the BRICS bank – Dilma Rousseff, underscored the institution’s role in providing resources for new partnerships along with Brazil’s Central Bank Director of Monetary Policy, Gabriel Galípolo, who also participated in the negotiations.
“It is essential that we join forces in activities that are already structured, such as the New PAC, the New Brazilian Industry Plan, the Ecological Transformation Plan and the South American Integration Routes Program”, explained Rui Costa.
