Under the presidential “Decent Life” initiative aimed at enhancing rural livelihoods – launched by Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi – EGP 299.6m in funding have been approved by the National Veal Project for 428 small-scale farmers and young graduates and for purchase of 4,280 head of cattle.
Per the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk, the total project funding has already surpassed EGP 9.3bn (US$184 million) and is benefiting over 44,400 farmers in terms of support of ”the breeding and fattening of over 514,000 cattle, including beef calves and high-yield dairy heifers, ensuring a stable supply of meat and dairy products.”
Farouk explained that efforts within the initiative contributes to the market stability by ensuring a consistent supply of meat and dairy products.
