More than 120,000 hectares were planted under rice in 2024 in Venezuela, which 26% more than in 2023, making the balance of 2024 very favorable for the rice sector, Jose Luis Perez, the president of the Venezuelan Rice Producers Association (Fevearroz), says.
According to Perez, rice yield in 2024 in Venezuela, where cultivation takes place during the rainy and dry seasons in the Central and Western Plains – in the states of Guarico and Portuguesa – was approximately 5.000 kg per hectare.
Perez also noted that their goal is to exceed 100,000 kilos in the short term and emphasized the need to attract more investment in the sector.
