The influence, attractiveness and representativeness of BRICS transforms the bloc into a significant platform for strengthening the unity and interaction of the Global South, Guo Jiakun, spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry says as quoted by CCTV+.
“The BRICS cooperation mechanism emerged as a result of the historical process of collective growth of emerging markets and countries,” says Guo, adding that with over 30% of global GDP and more than 50% of global economic growth, the bloc “has come to represent almost half of the world’s population.”
He conveyed China’s warm welcome to the newest full member of BRICS, Indonesia, “to BRIC’s family”, expressing the willingness of Beijing “to deepen ties with the republic”.
