Tensions between Israel and Iran have reached a new peak as Israeli forces launched renewed strikes deep inside Iranian territory, including Tehran, amid an ongoing escalation that has entered its fourth day.
The Israeli Air Force now claims to have achieved “full aerial superiority” over the Iranian capital, according to IDF spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin.
At least 21 Israelis and 224 Iranians have died since the outbreak of open warfare, with Iran stating that over 90% of its casualties are civilians. Several countries, including the United States and Russia, have urged their citizens to evacuate both Israel and Iran due to the rapidly deteriorating security situation.
One of the most high-profile targets in Israel’s latest barrage was the headquarters of Iran’s state broadcaster IRINN. Four bombs reportedly struck the Political Affairs Office during a live broadcast, forcing anchor Sahar Emami to abruptly pause her segment as the studio was rocked by explosions. The building caught fire but the channel resumed operations shortly after.
Emami later condemned the attack, saying, “This was not just a strike on a building—it was a strike on press freedom. Where is the global outcry in the face of silencing journalists?”
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed the strike, arguing the IRINN facility was being used by Iran’s military under the cover of civilian infrastructure. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated, “Iranian propaganda and incitement mouthpiece is on its way to disappearing.”
Other media organizations were also caught in the crossfire. RT and Ruptly’s shared office in Tehran was evacuated after receiving a warning of an impending strike. RT’s Tehran bureau chief said staff had to flee within minutes.
Meanwhile, Israel has also bombed critical sites, including Iran’s Natanz uranium enrichment center, and assassinated several Iranian military leaders. In retaliation, Iran launched dozens of ballistic missiles into Israeli territory.
The conflict has led Iran to suspend nuclear talks with the U.S., while global powers scramble to contain the fallout.
